Paul Smith 2014
Ripped jeans, dirty knees, boardies and a plain tee what more could an active growing boy need in his wardrobe! I love the simplicity required to fill our boys wardrobe from cool printed boardies to simple white tees and pocketed singlets, but there really is only so much you can do with pants and a t-shirt. Whilst brighter and bolder prints are featuring heavily in boys fashion for 2014;
It’s refreshing to see a rise in the semi-formal boy with an influx in fitted blazers, button up shirts, vests and tailored pants.
Semi-formal wear is a tough area of fashion to get right when it comes to boys wear, as it’s so easy to confuse stylish with daggy and out-dated. However, styled right (which I find usually occurs with the advise of my little Mr’s who always manage to mix and match their wardrobes with the right amount of cool) the tailored jacket, vest and button up shirt can create on trend and unique outfits that really work!
As well as creating a more diverse wardrobe for the boys, these semi-formal pieces are an essential part of every wardrobe that allows the boys to utilize their imagination in ‘dressing up.’ It’s amazing how many times my 4-year-old walks out in his black suit vest and check button up shirt paired with a pair of board shorts or plain shorts acting as an imaginative character yet looking exceptionally stylish!
With so many top designers creating junior fashion ranges, it’s not surprising that we’re seeing a rise in smart styling and the semi-formal boy, and to be honest I’m loving the competitive diversity it’s creating for boys wear.
Some of my favourites for Spring 2014,

Smart styling is a must at the moment and I’m loving trying new looks and trends on the boys, almost as much as they love putting new outfits together. When it comes to purchasing these semi-formal styles in designer labels, I wouldn’t go past www.alexandalexa.com whilst www.next.co.uk offers some great budget options.
